Clinical Vignette

A 34-year-old female presents with four days of nonproductive cough, myalgias, and fatigue. Today she noticed a few streaks of blood in her sputum after a prolonged coughing spell.

She is speaking comfortably and non-febrile. Temperature is 37.0°C, heart rate 86, blood pressure 124/76, respiratory rate 16, and oxygen saturation 98% on room air. There is no unilateral leg swelling, no prior VTE, no recent surgery or immobilization, and no active cancer.
